| Abstract: | Alzheimer’s disease (AD), a clinically common neurodegenerative disease characterized by progressive memory loss, has emerged as a critical global public health issue due to its complex etiology and poorly understood mechanisms. Recent studies have revealed a close association between sleep disturbances and the onset and progression of AD. This review systematically examines research progress in characterizing sleep-related EEG activities – specifically sleep spindles and slow oscillations – by analyzing their roles and the underlying mechanisms in disease progression. Furthermore, it explores their potential as biological biomarkers for AD diagnosis, offering novel perspectives for AD research and clinical management. |
