| Abstract: | Research on the sit-stand desk’s efficacy has been highlighted in recent years. This study reviews 18 articles that are with specific work on sit-stand time setting. According to the selected literature, standing or sit-stand pattern doesn’t influence work performance, foot swelling and spinal shrinkage significantly; it, however, does enhance posture variation, heart rate and energy consumption. The assessment of subjective self-rating of discomfort shows that sitting is better-rated than standing, and sit-stand pattern outperforms sitting. Based on these results, it is suggested that discomfort should be taken as the essential factor to determine the sit-stand duration, which needs to be further combined with the electromyography (EMG) to enhance credibility, and sitting duration should be set as longer than standing duration. |
