| Abstract: | Rice root system is the primary organ for absorption of water and nutrients, which further affects the development of the ground-surface tissue and grain yield. Compared with the research on the ground-surface tissue, the study of root characterization and development is relatively inadequate because of the limited research methods and resources. Recently, there are significant research progresses in the cloning and functional study of root-related genes in rice. In this report, we summarize these achievements over the last several years and expect more root-related genes cloned, with which more clues can be provided for the future study of root system development and genetic materials for breeding. |
